Illuminate Thanksgiving

Join us for ‘Illuminate Thanksgiving’ on November 19
for America’s Hometown Thanksgiving weekend!

As one small candle may light a thousand, so the light here kindled has shown unto many.”
Governor William Bradford ~ Of Plimoth Plantation

The year 2020 will mark the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower, and in the first of many events, members of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants will gather in Plymouth for the Plymouth 400 ‘Illuminate Thanksgiving’ program.

On November 19, join your Mayflower cousins in Pilgrim attire in a procession led by Governor William Bradford from the Mayflower Society House to Hedge House on the Plymouth Waterfront. There, we will participate in a multi-nation, candle-lighting ceremony and a reading of Bradford's inspirational, "One Small Candle" quote.

The descendants will then return to the Mayflower Society House front lawn where they will conduct a brief service of remembrance for the Mayflower passengers who traveled to the New World in 1620. The tribute will include 102 luminaries lit in commemoration of our Pilgrim ancestors and their accomplishments.

All are welcome to partake in the procession and illumination and we encourage dressing in Pilgrim attire! Please meet at the Mayflower Society House at 3:oo PM on November 19. Following the illumination event, all members and participants in the procession are welcome into the Mayflower Society House for light refreshments. If you would like to join us in commemoration, please RSVP by contacting GSMD Membership Services Manager Georgi Hess at Membership@TheMayflowerSociety.org.

The Challenge is On... Float the Boat!

The Challenge is On... Float the Boat!
Help Us Raise $250k for Mayflower II's Restoration

A gift from the English people to commemorate the US-British alliance during World War II, an iconic symbol of freedom, and a floating classroom, Mayflower II has delighted visitors from near and far for over 60 years.

The time has come to preserve and protect Mayflower II for future generations to learn from and enjoy.

We are excited to announce that we launched a global
Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign with a goal of $250,000 to support the restoration of Mayflower II! The campaign ends on November 16 and it is all or nothing; so we must meet (or better yet, exceed) our goal in order to collect the funds.

In the spirit that Mayflower II is everybody’s ship and belongs to the Nation, you will have the chance to
be a part of this historic project by pledging today. YOU are so important to this effort, and today our goal is to gain 500 backers in the first 24 hours of this campaign. Will you help us?

Local businesses have already joined in on the campaign,
pledging their support and helping us with this promotional video!

How You Can Help

Please share our campaign at
SaveMayflower.org with your family, friends, and colleagues as we need as many people to participate as possible to reach our goal. Successful Kickstarter campaigns gain momentum in the first few days so spreading the word quickly is important.

YOUR gift will make such a difference in ensuring the longevity of Mayflower II, so that she may serve as a floating classroom for generations to come. Thank you from all of us at Plimoth Plantation for your support!

If you have any questions about the Kickstarter campaign, or would like more details on how you can help “Float the Boat!” please contact Courtney Roy-Branigan, Director of Development, at ext. 8203.
