The clock is ticking: Mayflower II needs your help!

With only 18 days to go, our Kickstarter campaign for a portion of Mayflower II's restoration cost needs some help from friends and supporters. Kickstarter is all-or-nothing, and we have $190K to go. Can you help by pledging $10 and telling 10 friends about this chance to make history and save this one-of-a-kind reproduction at www.SaveMayflower.org? We have rewards of historic proportions for our backers! Thank you!

New Backer Incentive: Send Mayflower II Off on November 1

Do you have your tickets for the Mayflower II Send-Off Cruise aboard Capt. John Boats on Tuesday, November 1?! This will be your last chance to see our historic ship before she heads to Mystic Seaport for two years of restoration work. She will return fully restored and able to sail again in 2019.

When you pledge at the $75 Harbor Cruise level through Kickstarter, you will receive a VIP ticket, including reserved seating and a souvenir goody bag to thank you for your gift. Visit www.SaveMayflower.org to secure your ticket today. Tickets are also available for $25 general admission ($20 for members) at mayflowersendoff.eventbrite.com!

All events are subject to change based on weather and tide. We anticipate that if all goes well, Mayflower II will be leaving her berth at the State Pier between 11:30am and 1:30pm on Tuesday, November 1st and will be tugged down Cape Cod Canal.

Pilgrim Festival Chorus Presents Around the World Christmas

Pilgrim Festival Chorus (PFC), the region’s principal community chorus, presents three Around the World Christmas concerts, each at 7:30 pm, on Friday, December 2 at Central Congregational Church, 2 Webster Street, Middleborough; Saturday, December 3 at St. Bonaventure Church, 803 State Road, Plymouth; and Sunday, December 4 at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 842 Tremont Street, Duxbury. The chorus is conducted by Music Director William B. Richter and accompanied by Assistant Director Elizabeth Chapman Reilly.

Around the World Christmas is a musical journey exploring the diverse Christmas music throughout the world. From the glorious medieval processional, Gaudete, to one of the loveliest motets of the Renaissance, O Magnum Mysterium, the program includes carols old and new from many different countries, and some of the exciting and joyous carols from Africa, South America, and the West Indies. This musical tour kindles holiday lovers’ appetites for all the music they'll enjoy during this celebrated season.

Since 1999, PFC has delighted South Shore audiences with classical programming. The group of over 70 vocalists of all adult ages is dedicated to authentic choral singing. In addition to the winter concert, PFC generally presents a major choral work each spring, an annual Messiah Sing in December, and summer concerts with pops-style programming.

Tickets are $20.00 for adults, $18.00 for senior citizens and $15.00 for students over 14. Children under the age of 14 are admitted free. Nelson Street Sidewalk Construction to Begin

The town of Plymouth announced that the Sidewalk Improvement Project for Nelson Street is expected to commence the week of Oct. 24.

This work will extend the sidewalk on the northern side of Nelson Street towards Nelson Memorial Park and connect it to Water Street. The Department of Public Works anticipates that this work will take approximately two weeks -to complete. The typical work hours during this two-week time period will be from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

During these work hours, residents can expect temporary traffic delays and detours. The town of Plymouth and the contractors will make every effort to minimize these inconveniences to residents, business owners and visitors to the area. However, due to the inherent nature of construction, some level of disturbance will be inevitable.

To see the latest schedules and project information, visit the Department of Public Work’s Project page at plymouth-ma.gov/public-works/pages/dpw-projects-updates. General and nonemergency questions regarding the Nelson Street Sidewalk Improvement Project may be directed to the town’s Engineering Department at 508-747-1620, ext. 199, during normal business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
