Americana Theatre Company ToHold Open Auditions For Musical Comedy Lucky Stiff

Americana Theatre Company (ATC) announces open call auditions for their upcoming production of the musical comedy Lucky Stiff on Saturday, February 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Spire Center for Performing Arts, 25 1/2 Court Street, Plymouth. Lucky Stiffis by Tony® Award winning writing team Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, based on Michael Butterworth’s novel The Man Who Broke the Bank.  All roles are open for casting, equity and non-equity actors welcome, stipend compensation is available.

An offbeat murder mystery farce full of mistaken identities, Lucky Stiff boasts millions in diamonds and a wheelchair-bound corpse that leave audiences dying of laughter!  The musical first premiered off-Broadway, and is the winner of the Richard Rodgers Award and Washington's Helen Hayes Award for Best Musical.  Unassuming English shoe salesman Harry Witherspoon is forced to take the embalmed body of his recently murdered uncle on vacation to Monte Carlo. Should he succeed in passing his uncle off as alive, he stands to inherit six million dollars!  If he fails, the money gets handed off to the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn - or else his uncle's gun-toting ex!  Lucky Stiff’s tuneful score, ensemble cast of zany characters and small rock combo orchestra charms audiences for a wild night at the theater.

All Lucky Stiff audition candidates should arrive at 9:30 a.m. prepared to sing 32 bars from a Lucky Stiff song selection, or a song in a similar musical theater style.  An audition accompanist will be provided.  Audition candidates may bring their own sheet music, and should also bring a head shot or photograph and resume. Call-backs will immediately follow vocal auditions.

Rehearsals for the production season will begin on June 13, a detailed schedule will be available after casting. Performances of Lucky Stiff will be held from July 6 through 22 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
