Petition to Save Burial Hill

Burial Hill will be adversely affected with the needless removal of these trees. Burial Hill is one of the country's earliest burial grounds and is part of the original area settled by the Pilgrims. It is of historic, artistic, and cultural importance. We must be stewards to its preservation. If we stand silent we are party to its desecration.

That's why residents have created a petition to Plymouth Board of Selectmen, which says:

"We are opposed to the cutting of many of Burial Hill's healthy trees, particularly the magnificent beeches . "

Will you sign the petition? Click here to add your name:

The Mallett Brothers at Spire Center for the Arts

The Mallett Brothers at Spire Center for the Arts | Feb 7th, 2015

The Mallett Brothers Band is a nationally touring alt-country/rock band from Maine. Slightly more rock than country, theirs is a musical melting pot that's influenced equally by folk and singer/songwriter influences as by harder rock, punk and psychedelic sounds. Led by brothers Luke and Will Mallett, the band is rounded out by Brian Higgins on drums, Nick Leen on bass, Matt Mills on lead guitar, pedal steel and banjo, and Wally on dobro and electric guitar. It's song-driven music that holds up under the lens of solitary listening, but that's equally apt to crank a room full of rockers into whiskey-fueled high gear.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Balboni’s Landscape Supply and Green Waste Reprocessing will accept Plymouth residents’ Christmas trees for recycling, at no charge, Monday, Dec. 29, through Saturday, Jan. 31. The tree drop-off location is 135 Camelot Drive. Proof of Plymouth residency is required. Balboni’s hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (closed Sunday).

Only clean trees are accepted for recycling; all ornaments, tinsel, lights and wire must be removed. Each resident participating in the Christmas tree recycling program will receive $20 worth of coupons, which can be redeemed at Balboni’s for products or future green waste disposal. In addition to providing Plymouth residents with a handy location to recycle their trees, it is environmentally friendly.

The Christmas trees will be ground up to produce high-quality mulch. The mulch will then break down to enrich and improve the fertility of the soil, which is the key to healthy plants and trees.

Contact Balboni’s at 508-746-6111, or check out their website at www.balbonilandscape.com for additional information.
