Message from Plymouth Community Theatre

Dear Friends of Plymouth Community Theatre,

We are pleased to remind you of our spring musical for 2016, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, directed by Nathan Fogg. Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor. Featuring a fast-paced wildly funny and touching book by Rachel Sheinkin and a truly fresh and vibrant score by William Finn, this bee is one unforgettable experience.

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home life, the tweens spell their way through a series of words hoping to never hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box.

A riotous ride complete with audience participation, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is delightful den of comedic genius, a fast-paced crowd pleaser and an instant theatre patron favorite. Each night will feature a local celebrity guest speller!

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee includes some of the most talented actors from the area: Kristen Huberdeau of Whitman, CJ Hawes of Quincy, Jose Merlo of Brockton, Morgan Campbell of Abington, Lisa McDonough of Medford, Ricky DeSisto of Revere and Mark Rocheteau of Plymouth.

Once again, PCT is pleased to announce that our next production, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, will be performed at The Spire Center for the Performing Arts, 25 ½ Court Street in Plymouth. The show will run for two weekends, Friday through Sunday, June 10-12 and 17-19. Friday and Saturday shows start at 8:00pm and Sunday performances start at 3:00pm. Friday, June 17th will be "Dirty Language Night"!

Tickets are $20 / $18 seniors and students and can be purchased online on our website or in person at The Spire 30 minutes before the show. Seating is general admission; first-come, first-served.

Tickets honored for a 10% discount at Driftwood Restaurant up to 2 weeks after ticket date.
Full information about PCT's upcoming endeavors can always be found on our website, www.plymouthcommunitytheatre.net! Stay tuned for more information about the rest of our exciting season!!

Pilgrim Progress Goes to the U.S. Capitol

On Flag Day this year, (Tuesday, June 14, 2016), Mayflower Society members in Pilgrim costumes will hold a press conference in front of the US. Capitol building.
The press conference is in support of the Mayflower Commemorative Coin Bills currently before the US. Congress. This is an excellent opportunity to participate in the civic process that will result in Pilgrim-themed coins to be minted in 2020. All Society members who have access to a Pilgrim costume and who can get themselves to Washington on that date are invited to attend.

If you can make it, we will gather in Washington the evening of June 13 in order to participate in a planning session. We will rehearse our talking points for the news conference in case you are approached by media. We will also share a meal and fellowship in America’s capitol.

On Tuesday morning, June 14, we will all meet at the Capitol building where we will assemble. Presently, the news conference is planned for 10:00 am. EDT and is expected to last about thirty minutes.

As of this writing the Bills have a total of 17 co-sponsors in the Senate and thirty-six co-sponsors in the House. The bill will not qualify to go to the floor for vote unless we have 2/3 co-sponsors from both houses. That means we will need 67 U.S. Senators and 290 U. S. Representatives to sign on as co-signers to be successful. This is an excellent way to demonstrate support for our coin bill while educating all who see the news stories about the Pilgrims.

If you can clear your schedule and take a short vacation to make history, contact me as soon as possible. Remember, you will need to arrive on Monday, June 13 by late afternoon and you may leave any time after the news conference. We hope to hear from you!
