Coming Soon: Twelve Angry Men

Plymouth Community Theatre is pleased to announce their next production, Twelve Angry Men. This production will run for 2 weekends, October 16-25, at The Spire Center for the Performing Arts, 25 ½ Court Street, Plymouth, MA.

Twelve Angry Men was written by Reginald Rose as a television screenplay, which was produced initially by CBS in 1954 for their series "Studio One in Hollywood." The following year, it was adapted into a play by Sherman L. Sergel, and in 1957 was made into the iconic film starring many famous faces of the day, including Ed Begley, Lee Cobb, Henry Fonda, and Jack Klugman. A lesser-known television remake was produced in 1997, featuring many Hollywood heavy hitters, including Hume Cronyn, Ossie Davis, Jack Lemmon, and George C. Scott.

A 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. "He doesn't stand a chance," mutters the guard as the twelve jurors are taken into the bleak jury room. It looks like an open-and-shut case ... until one of the jurors begins opening the others' eyes to the facts. "This is a remarkable thing about democracy," says the foreign-born juror, "that we are notified by mail to come down to this place and decide on the guilt or innocence of a person; of a man or woman we have not known before. We have nothing to gain or lose by our verdict. We should not make it a personal thing." But personal it is, with each juror revealing his own character as the various testimonies are re-examined, the murder is re-enacted and a new murder threat is born before their eyes! Tempers get short, arguments grow heated, and the jurors become Twelve Angry Men. The jurors' final verdict, and how they reach it, will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Jess Wilson of Onset will direct the production. Wilson, a PCT founder and Board member, last directed the sold-out run of Cabaret for Buzzards Play Productions in Wareham. Her last directorial run with PCT, the musical farce Money, Power, Murder, Lust, Revenge... and Marvelous Clothes!, was also a sell-out! Melissa Masi Genereau of Plymouth will stage manage, and Emily Rose Barry of Hanover will serve as assistant stage manager. The cast for Twelve Angry Menfeatures Hollis Christian, Bill Driscoll, Bobby Genereau, and Richard Nealy of Plymouth, Ian Rubinstein of Bourne, Jesse Romano of Brewster, Manuel Moitoso of Buzzards Bay, Ted Lillys of Duxbury, Robert Bock of Falmouth, Frank Piekut of Hanover, Paul McCuen of Marshfield, Bob Shire of Scituate and Anthony Johnson of Wareham.
