Long Beach Cleanup

The Goldenrod Foundation’s beach cleanup and data collection about trash (Coastsweep) will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Long Beach in Plymouth.

Participants will divide up into teams and pick up trash while recording the amounts and types of trash. The purpose is to gather data for Massachusetts-wide (Coastsweep) and global (International Coastal Cleanup) efforts. The data will help strategize ways to prevent the pollution from going into the ocean in the first place. Prizes will be given. There will be reusable options for some of the disposable items found.

If you are thinking about doing a cleanup on your favorite beach, learn how it’s done. It’s also a good project for homeschoolers, Scouts and church and other faith groups. Go to www.goldenrod.org/blog/events/coastsweephometown-cleanup to sign up and for more information.
