South Plymouth Youth Baseball registration is now open for all leagues. Take advantage of an early bird savings special until Jan. 31. The deadline for registrations is April 1. Visit the website at www.spyb.org.
American and National league tryouts are scheduled for March 29 and 30. Details will be emailed and posted to the website when available. Opening Day 2014 will be Saturday, April 26. In addition to uniform handouts, there will be a visit from Wally the Green Monster along with all the usual events. Picture day will be Sunday, May 4. Midseason all star events and Home Run Derby will take place the weekend of May 17.
SPYB will offer clinics starting March 1 and running for four consecutive Saturdays geared towards helping better prepare players for the upcoming season. These clinics will be held at the new Atlantic Baseball Club facility located in the Plymouth Industrial Park. They will be run by a professional instructor and SPYB coaches. Each session includes one hour of training for the 5-6 and 7-8 age groups and an hour-and-a-half hours for the 9-10 and 11-12 groups. There will be a small fee and space will be limited to 15-20 players per age group. If you are interested in having your child participate, email spybbod@gmail.com. Times for each age group and the deadline to sign up by will be made available soon.
If you are unable to attend these clinics but would still like to give your child a head start on the season, go to the SPYB website for a list of local training facilities that offer private lessons and/or clinics.
