1000 Books Before Kindergarten.

This fall, the Plymouth Public Library is launching a brand-new literacy program called 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. Studies have shown that the more children ages 0-5 hear books read to them at home, the more prepared they will be to learn to read upon reaching kindergarten.
1000 Books Before Kindergarten is an self-guided, ongoing program for all children, from birth up until they start school, with the goal of encouraging every child to read at least 1000 books before kindergarten. Any book your child hears counts toward their program goal, including coming to story time at the library and books that you have read before, so children can begin this program at any age and easily meet their goal!
The launch party for this program will take place at the Main Library on Wednesday, August 20th at 11am. Join our Youth Services Department staff for stories, tips on how to succeed in helping your child meet his or her reading goals, and to learn more about how the program works. Families will also take home a booklet to track each child's progress!

For more information, please call the Youth Services Department at 508.830.4250, or check us out at www.plymouthpubliclibrary.org. The library is fully accessible; let us know if you need special accommodation to attend.
