Closing Bids for Plymouth Plates

We've hit the road running with the Plymouth 400 license plate auction! Here's where the auction stands today:

*There are bids placed on 37 different license plates! That means more than a third of our available plates are already halfway to their buyers!

*The plate with the highest current bid is plate #1620. Its opening bid was for $10,000!

*The total amount of bids is up to more than $30,000. As you can see, our goal for this auction is $250,000. We've still got a ways to go! You might think $250,000 is a lofty goal, but based on our research, we know that #1 specialty plates are quite popular! For example, Ben Affleck bought Red Sox Plate #1 for $50,000, and the Cape & Islands Plate #1 sold for $147,000 at auction!

You may be asking, why is this auction so important? It's important because not only is the auction raising funds for our 2020 Anniversary events and programs, which will engage millions of people around the globe and leave lasting legacies for generations to come, it is also an opportunity to have a rare low-numbered license plate-- the ONLY Massachusetts specialty plate honoring American history! These plates can be passed down through generations, so they're truly an American keepsake.

We're looking forward to June 3rd, when all bids will close during our live auction event. You can follow along and bid online at MyPlymouthPlate.org, via telephone bid (by calling J. James Auctioneers and Appraisers at 508-746-8608), or in person at the live auction event at the New England Historic Genealogical Society, located at 99 Newbury Street in Boston. Space at the live auction event is limited, so reserve today by clicking here.

We hope you'll continue to share the auction information with your friends, family, and everyone you know! We're excited to see who walks away with these plates, and we're even more excited for the moment when we drive past one on the road!

Kind regards,
Michele Pecoraro
