The Plimoth Players return for their fifth season with Shakespeare’s Guide For Lovers, a new work that draws on the Bard’s plays, sonnets and songs to celebrate romance in all its aspects. Conceived by Annie Arthur who directed last season’s Much Ado About Nothing, and directed by Paul Kite who has appeared at the Williamstown Theatre Festival and the Kennedy Center, Shakespeare’s Guide For Lovers is a funny and touching two-actor performance.
A modern couple travels through love’s timeless trials and tribulations with the guidance of a found book. They fall in love with Romeo and Juliet, find themselves with Anthony and Cleopatra, banter as Benedick and Beatrice, and along the way discover how far love can really take them.
Audience favorite Michael Kaup, now in his third season as the Plimoth Players’ Artistic Director, stars opposite Annie Arthur. Candlelit evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m and will be held at the Museum’s Fort/Meetinghouse in the 17th-Century English Village. The evening will end with a lantern light walk to the Visitor Center. Seating is limited. There will also be two 3:00 p.m. matinees performed at the Hornblower Visitor Center. The performance runs 75 minutes without intermission.
Tickets for the evening and matinee shows are $12 for members of the Museum and students, and $17 for the general public. On Tuesday, August 12 and Thursday August 14, Museum guests can upgrade their admissions ticket to include a matinee ticket for $8 per person. For more information, call (508) 746-1622 x 8346.
